Ormond "D.O." Crews, 78, of West River Road died suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka due to natural causes.
He was born and raised in Bardin and was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. In his younger days, he had worked as a logger. He had owned and operated Crews Seafood on West River Road for the past 32 years. He was a very creative man and was constantly building new things. He loved and enjoyed the great outdoors and was an avid hunter. He was a hardworking man and had worked until the day he died. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Enoch Crews, Pat Crews, Raybarn Crews and Ferrell Crews.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Violet L. Crews of West River Road; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry Crews of East Palatka, and Rick and Rita Crews of West River Road; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Micheal Brown of East Palatka; two sisters, Katherine Key of Bardin, and Irene Rich of Bardin; five grandchildren, John May of Aiken, S.C., Ruben Barnard of New Ellington, S.C., Ricky Crews and Roger Crews, both of West River Road, and Josh Crews of East Palatka.
