Alpha was the daughter of Roger Ashland & Callie Ann (Hanby) Gulick.

She married Vincel Q. Shrout. They were living with his parents in April 1940.

Vincel Shrout & his wife, Alpha, ages 21 & 20, lived on a farm in Mill Creek, Morgan Co, MO with his parents, W.B. & Lula, ages 57 & 55. He was helping his father with the farming.

Alpha's mother died on April 20, 1962. Her obituary follows:

"Mrs. Gulick Dies At Versailles Home
Tipton (Special) - Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Syracuse Baptist Church for Mrs. Callie Ann Gulick of Furtuna.

Mrs. Gulick died Wednesday at the Kidwell Rest Home in Versailles where she had been a resident for three years.

She was born May 14, 1886, in Morgan County, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Hanby. On Oct. 26, 1913, she was married to Roger Gulick.

She was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marie Mabbott of Ballwin; and Mrs. Alpha Shrout, Fortuna; a sister, Mrs. Gertie Lampton, Fortuna; and a grandson.

Burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery."
