Jesse Westwick was born at Blairsburg, Iowa. He attended high school at Williams, Iowa, and was confirmed in the Rose Grove Church on October 24, 1915 by Pastor S. C. Simonson.

While attending school at the State University of Iowa at Iowa City, Jesse became a linotype operator. With this trade, he paid part of his way through college, working on periodicals in Iowa and in Minnesota, including the Isanti and Chisago County newspapers. He graduated from the State University of Iowa in 1929 with a bachelor's degree in commerce, and in 1934 he received his master's degree.

Jesse taught commercial courses at Erie High School in Illinois from 1929 to 1941, and was also an assistant principal part of the time. From 1941 to 1945, he worked for the Illinois Board of Vocational Education and Savannah and Springfield. by 1945, Jesse was a special agent with the Intelligence Division of the United States Treasury Department, working as a criminal investigator at Springfield until he retired in December, 1966. Jesse is a firearms collector, and excellent pistol shot, and was formerly a pistol coach for his department.

In 1929, he married Helen Koser of Coralville, Iowa. Helen attended University High School and business college at Iowa City, Iowa. Helen collects miniature china, is interested in rocks and minerals, and is active in church work.

Mr. and Mrs. Westwick have resided in Springfield since 1942, and are members of Luther Memorial Church in that city. they presently reside at 2641 Manor, Springfield, Illinois. An infant daughter, Phyllis Ann, died in 1932.
