Ottumwa Courier

In plain caskets and surrounded by flowers sent by scores of friends, the body of Charles Helmick and 6 of his 10 children occupied the front section of the Church of the Open Bible, Second and Jefferson Street awaiting last rights at 2:00 pm today. By the hour of the funeral, conducted by five ministers the church was crowded to the doors and hundreds stood outdoors.

Among the floral tributes were offerings sent by the pupils of Douglas which the Helmick children attended before last Saturday's fire by grim tragedy.

In the picture the casket of the father is in the center while on each side are those of Lola, and Loleta twins; Joe 10, Donald 8, Helen 7, and Darrel 4.
