Anna (Brudzinski) Krzeminski (1886-1944)

My Great-Great Grandmother: Anna Brudzinski, was born on July 26, 1886 in Sierpc, Poland. The daughter of Jozef and Marianna (Szczypiorska) Brudzinski. She grew up in Sierpc, Poland with her parents and brothers Ignacy, Jozef, John and her sisters Stasia and Mary. Anna came to America on July 7, 1898 looking for a better life like many other immigrants. A few of her family members moved to America from Poland. Which included her brother Joseph to Toledo and her brother John to Freemont, OH. Her Parents along with her brother Ignacy and sisters Stasia and Mary stayed in Poland. Before marrying and having children Anna was a cook at a restaurant in Toledo, OH. Although many women didn't have an occupation other than being a housewife in the late 1890's early 1900's, Anna also worked teaching the Russian and Polish language for five years each. On August 31, 1903 she married Anthony "Tony" Krzeminski (a hard working general contractor) at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Toledo, OH. 10 short months later Anthony and Anna welcomed their first child and son, Walter into the world. They were later blessed with a daughter Mary, Baby Boy, Helen, Anthony, Edward, John, Joseph, Peter, Ludwig, Jon , Gertrude and Edmund. With Walter, Mary, Helen, Edward, John and Joseph (Joseph only months old)the family packed up from Detroit and moved to Waltz, MI and called 38145 Ash Rd. Home! Peter, Ludwig, Jon, Gertrude and Edmund were all born at home in Waltz. The family raised many animals and grew many fruits and vegetables like many families in this area at this time. Another source of income that Anna provided for her family was that she raised hundreds of geese on the farm and plucked the feathers off the geese. She then sold the feathers to a factory in Detroit that used them to make pillows and comforters. Grandma and the boys took much of the produce they grew and meat to the Detroit Farmers Market. Afterwards she would always look forward to her wiener schnitzel dinner. During her lifetime she belonged to three churches throughout Ohio & Michigan. The first being St. Hedwig's where she was married at. The second was St. Francis in Detroit, MI and the last church she belonged to was St. Stephen's in New Boston. On Tuesday January 11, 1944, after battling Diabetes for over five known years, Anna Krzeminski fell into Diabetic coma and died at the age of 57 at the Alexander Blaine Hospital in Detroit, MI. On Saturday January 15, 1944 she was buried next to her husband, Anthony Krzeminski at St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery in New Boston, MI. She was a beloved mother who left behind ten children, Walter, Mary, Helen, Ed, John, Joe, Pete, Louie, Gertie and Edmund, beloved grandmother to eighteen and beloved sister of three brothers Ignacy, Jozef and John. (We are unsure if her sisters were still living). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Tony, and three of children: Baby Boy, Anthony & Jon Krzeminski and two grandchildren: Christopher & Effie Uminn and a son in-law: Michael "Mike" Schuster.
