Jerry E. Davis, 68, of Texarkana, TX joined the Church triumphant on June 14, 2013 at Wadley Hospital. Jerry was born to Lois W. and C. Lee Davis on May 21, 1945 in Texarkana, AR. He grew up in Texarkana, Texas and graduated from Texas Senior High School in 1963. He attended Hardin Simmons College and Stephen F. Austin before joining the family restaurant business. He managed Lee's Drive-In from the age of 15 until he opened The Charcoal Broiler Restaurant, Texarkana, AR. He owned and operated the Charcoal Broilers in Texarkana, AR and Commerce, Texas until 1988 when he moved with his family to North Little Rock, AR and managed the food service division of Pickett Food Services. He worked for the Arkansas Democrat until he returned to Texarkana and worked as Single Copy Manager for the Texarkana Gazette until his retirement in 2005.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Lee Davis and his brother Charles Lee Davis of Texarkana and his sister Charlotte and her husband Earl Rose of Abilene.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Suzanne Rochelle Davis, his son Jeffrey C. Davis and wife, Melissa of Ft. Hood, Texas, his daughters Kristen Davis Crouch and husband Paul, and Kathryn Davis Chambers and husband Trent, all of Texarkana. He was "Pops" to his six precious grandchildren, Courtland "Taylor" Davis, Jackson Graham Davis, Ella Caroline Crouch, Davis Coleman Crouch, Miller Whitlow (Whit) Crouch and Michael "Kellan" Chambers. He leaves a brother and wife, Bryant and Rosemary Davis of Texarkana; sister-in-law Jan Davis King, also of Texarkana; his dear in-laws: Martin and Marianne Rochelle and William Rochelle of Austin, TX and Harold Rochelle, Jr. of Texarkana.
Jerry served his Lord as Chairman of the board of Deacons and Elder during his years in the Presbyterian Church. He was, above all a child of God and a servant of his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Jerry will be missed for his sense of humor and his deep love of friends and family.
A memorial Mass of Thanksgiving and Praise will take place on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Episcopal Church; Fr. David Faulkner officiating.
Internment will be at the church with a reception following in the Great Hall. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or St. James Church.
