John M. Maynor was the second of ten children of Marshall Wilborn and Susannah Swittenberg Maynor. He married L.A. Barnes in Rankin County, Mississippi, on 5 September 1885, and they had a son named Durwood. Later John married Mary B. Riley, beside whom he is buried.
