Robert E. Trone, 83, of near London Mills, died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 at home. He was born Aug. 26, 1917, in Christian Neck, the son of Carol and Mabel Hollenbeck Trone. He married Lola Derry on Sept. 2, 1936, in Davenport, Iowa. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Jack Trone, Pekin, and Mark Trone, Galesburg; two daughters, Marscella Henshilwood, Galesburg, and Clarsice Bauman, Fairview; two sisters, Marjorie Chenoweth, Green Rock, and Betty Crosier, Canton; one brother, Jim Trone, Canton; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three great-grandchildren. He was reared in Christian Neck and lived in Ray, Bader and Cuba. He lived 35 years in London Mills and in Rapatee for the past two years He owned and operated London Mills Feed Store and Possum Bob's in London Mills. An Army veteran of World war II, he served in the occupation forces in Germany. He was a member of London Mills United Methodist Church and Cuba American Legion Post 533. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in London Mills United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Kerr officiating. Burial was in East Midway Cemetery, where military rite were conducted by American Legion Post 533. Corman Memorial Home, London Mills, was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women's Shelter and to London Mills United Methodist Church.
