Peggy Sue Portwood, age 73, of Monahans passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at her home.

She was born February 3, 1937 in Hamlin, Texas. She was a homemaker. She was married to Buddy Portwood on April 21, 1954 in Stamford, Texas. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Robbie Harris and Lawrence Belew officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Harkey Funeral Home Friday, September 10, 2010 from 7-8 p.m. Services are under the direction of Harkey Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Kim Ashbrook and husband John of Monahans; 3 sisters, Jackie Embrey of Hamlin, Jo Embrey of Hamlin, and Betty Rowan of Sweetwater; 4 grandchildren, T.J. Portwood of San Antonio, Brandon Bicknell of Houston, Corey Portwood of Houston, and Marcus Ashbrook of Monahans; and 2 great-grandchildren, Abby Trammell of Aspermont and Rilee Portwood of Big Spring.

She is preceded in death by her parents, M.D. Chunky Brown and Grace Wicker; her husband, Buddy Portwood; a son, Terry Portwood; and 2 sisters, Faye Neves and Paula Moore.
