DAVENPORT Lois Hottenstein, 88, of Davenport, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport. Services in celebration of her life will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, 510 E. 15th St., Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly and Jersey Ridge in Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, of which she was a member, or Susan G. Koman Foundation.

Lois was born in 1924 in Walcott, to Vernon A. and Sarah B. Eutsler. She married Theodore A. Hottenstein on Jan. 13, 1946, at First Christian Church in Davenport. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1988. For 50 years, she worked as a secretary for three generations of Schroder Agents at the Schroder Insurance Agency, starting at the age of 17 in May 1942 and retiring in June 1992. In addition to her church membership, where she served as elder, she was a member of the church's Ruth Circle and taught Sunday School from the age of 14. She was also active with the U & I Sunday School Class, National Secretary's Association, VFW Auxiliary, Pilot Club, Ladies of the Moose and Women's Bowling League. She enjoyed volunteering at Washington School and with her church. Her interests were reading, singing, dancing, and playing euchre and bingo.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Ann (Michael) Moritz of Bettendorf and Carol Evon (Michael) Cather of Davenport; grandchildren, Jason (Melanie) Moritz of Jackson, Mich., Shannon Moritz of Champaign, Ill., Todd (Neely) Cather of Brooklyn, N.Y., Tricia (Harold) Wallace of Georgetown, Ind., Tony Cather of Gilbert, Ariz., Mandie Cather of Boston, and Alissa Cather of Louisville, Ky.; and five great-grandchildren with the sixth arriving soon.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Alva Hurd, Orpha Ohl and Lenora Steiverson, and a special friend, Howard Talley.
