Mr. Floyd Smith Burge, Jr. passed away Friday afternoon June 7, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Forsyth County on February 9, 1925 to the late Floyd Sr, and Vivian Saylor Burge. Floyd was a member of Ardmore Moravian Church, sang in the choir, and was past president of the Fellowship Class. He also served on both the Board of Trustees and the Board of Elders. Floyd was superintendent of the Junior Department for 36 years. He was elected and served the Winston-Salem City Council for 17 years, and past president of the Gideon's International Winston-Salem Chapter. He was preceded in death by first wife Eunice Hundley Burge; second wife Peggy Good Burge; son Floyd Smith Burge, III; and daughter Pamela Ann Burge Ledbetter. Floyd is survived by daughters Beverly Dillon (Lee) of Charlotte, NC, Jennifer Sealey (Jim) of Germanton, NC, and Marty Haley (Rob) of Jamestown, NC; brother J. Kenneth Burge; sister Jo Ann Long; grandchildren Jane Ogle (B.J.), Mary Peterson, John Smith Peterson (Kim), Anna Ledbetter, Christian Ledbetter, William Carter, Michael Sealey, Kenric Carter (Danielle), Trent Haley, and Meredith Haley; and great-grandchildren Caitlin Peterson; Hannah Peterson, Avery Hargro, Kloie Peterson, Coleman Peterson, Bryson Ogle and Lilith Sealey. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday June 10, 2013 at Ardmore Moravian Church with Rev. Jon Boling officiating. Burial will follow at God's Acre.
