Robert Lamar Shoup, 59, of Houghton Lake, Mich., and a former Montpelier and Edon area resident, died Tuesday, Jan., 15, 2002 in his home following an illness.
Born Feb. 14, 1942, at Edon, to Esther (Brigle) and John Lamar Shoup, he married Nancy Shonk on May 29, 1963 in Montpelier, and she survives.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he was an electrician for most of his life. He had been employed by various firms as well as being self-employed in the electrical field.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Brian Lamar (and wife, Joy Anna) Shoup of Fort Collins, Colo., and Daryl Lamar Shoup of Houghton Lake, Mich., three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Sharon Jean (Shoup) Hardy.
Graveside services were held Friday at 11 a.m. in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Grand Rapids, with Brother Ronald Hayhurst officiating.
