Life's Work/Service/Interests: Mark enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1941 at the young age of 18, with his best friend and cousin, Vance. He served in the South Pacific during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. He married his lifetime sweetheart, Eva Stanworth, on August 7, 1946 and they were married for 67 years. He spent most of his life as a steel worker/inspector with Geneva Steel, he also worked as a barber for many years. He was an inventor at heart, and enjoyed creating something new from something old and could repair or reinvent just about anything. Mark was above all a family man and after retiring, dedicated all his time doing for his family. He was an avid exercise enthusiast, bicycling for miles even up to the last several months of his life. He attended several Marine Corps reunions in Texas and other locations. Mark Lynn Abbott, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2013 in American Fork, Utah. He was 89.
Survived By: His wife, five children: Lynda (Von) Taylor, Dixon Abbott, Shirley (Karl) Hansen, Bonnie Cullimore and John (Joyce) Abbott; 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: His parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Family Message: "We have definitely lost a great man and a great Marine --- 'Semper Fi.'"
