Jesse J. Compton
74, of Brentwood Drive, Mt. Sterling passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Grundy, Virginia on April 28, 1939 the son of the late Joseph and Rachel Matney Compton. He was a retired factory worker and Mt. Sterling Policeman. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, a founding member of the Montgomery County Fish and Game Club and was an avid turkey, deer and crappie enthusiast. He also was a benchrest shooter.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Donaldson Compton of Mt. Sterling; one son, James Edward (Karen) Compton of Mt. Sterling; two brothers, Dennis Compton and Barnes (Sue) Compton both of Mt. Sterling; two sisters, Carrie (Elgin) McVey of Mt. Sterling and Hazel (Seth) Nealis of Georgia; three grandchildren, April (Tommy) Reed, Paige Compton, and Lauren (Dustin) High, and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, JoAnn Richards.
Funeral services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Carl Baker and Rob Pocai officiating and burial following in the Machpelah Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday evening from 5-9 PM at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Kenny McVey, Richie McVey, Charlie Compton, David Donaldson, Ricky McClain, David Turley, Tyler Nealis, and Ike France. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Teague, Jim Miracle, Anthony Miracle, Steve Robinson, Joe Frazier, George Ellis, Darvin Chandler, James Tipton, and Marvin Roe
