Roman Catholic Pope 1181-85. The 171st Pope was born Ubaldo Allucingoli in Lucca c1110. He was elected Pope on 1st September 1181 and crowned on 6th September. He lived in Rome initially, but from 1182 he had to live the remainder of his pontificate in exile. He was making plans for the third Crusade just before his death in Verona. (bio by: Bunny Boiler)
