Mrs. Hans Grimm was taken violently ill with pneumonia last Wednesday and died of the attack at 4 o'clock Sunday morning. Almost from the first day her son, Dr. Peter Grimm, of Arlington, saw the case was a hopeless one and word was sent to Dr. Arthur Grimm, of New York, to come home as soon as possible if he wished to see his mother alive. He arrived just at midnight and thus all were present when the end came. Rev. A.E. Marsh conducted the funeral services at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, after which all that is mortal of the beloved wife and mother was laid to rest beside her son, William, whose death occurred in May 1901. Miss Elizabeth Hardens was born in Holstein, Germany, on March 29, 1842 and was married to Hans Grimm in this city on June 11, 1869. This wedding has become noted as the first marriage ceremony to be performed in Blair. Besides her husband she leaves one daughter, Anna, and six stalwart sons, C.H., Hans, Louie and Eddie, who live at home, and Dr. Peter of Arlington, and Dr. Arthur of New York.

Mrs. Elizabeth Grimm, wife of Hans Grimm, died last Sunday morning, Dec. 19, 1903, at the family residence after an illness of one week, of pneumonia. She was born in Holstein, Germany, March 29, 1842, coming to America in 1869, and was married to Mr. Hans Grimm on June 11, 1869, they being the first couple married in Blair. Her husband, six sons, Henry, Peter, Hans, Louie, Arthur, Eddie and one daughter, Anna, survive her, all residing at home except Dr. P.G. Grimm, of Arlington, Nebr., and Dr. Arthur Grimm, of New York City, who arrived home four hours before his mother's death. One son, William, died in May 1901. The funeral was held at the residence Tuesday afternoon with services by Rector Marsh, of the Episcopalian church.
A choir consisting of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Claridge, Mrs. Dr. Robinson and Misses Ada Jackson and Alice Pound sang three beautiful selections. The pall bearers were Messers. F. H. Matthiesen, Henry Struve, C. B. Sprague, Watson Tyson and W. C. Walton. The large rooms were filled to overflowing with the many friends who came from far and near to pay their last tribute to this good woman. A large number of the old settlers and friends from Ft. She was a kind-hearted mother, with a devoted family, consisting of one daughter, Miss Anna, and five boys living. One son, William, died in May 1901. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon, from the family home, at 2 o'clock.
