William D. Snyder, son of John H. and Catherine Snyder, was born April 26, 1846. Departed this life just as the sun light was chasing away the shadows of night on the morning of August 14, 1919, aged 73 years, 3 months and 19 days.

He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Rodenheber, February 14, 1867. To this union were born 11 children, six sons and five daughters. Four sons and one daughter preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, two sons, Ward and Warren, four daughters, Mrs. Susie Garst, Mrs. Lillie Paxson, Mrs. Louisa Wolfe and Mrs. Bertha Niswander, two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Wahmhoff of this city, and Mrs. Elizabeth Ingle, of Dayton. Thirty grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and firends.

On May 2, 1864, at the age of 18 he answered his country's call, enlisting in Company E 147th regiment, in which he served his country as a good true soldier until he was discharged September 20, 1864. He was a member of Alexander-Mitchell Post, G.A.R.

At the age of 13 years he was converted and joined the Christian church. Later he transferred his membership to the United Brethren church. he lived a quiet, Christian life. He attended church regularly until his health failed. He loved to mingle with God's people and died a firm believer in the promises of Jesus Christ. He was a good neighbor and friend, a true, loving husband and one of the best of fathers.

We desire to thank our neighbors and friends for their kind help and sympathy during the sickness and death of our beloved husband and father. Also for the many beautiful floral offerings, the many friends who so kindly furnished their cars for the funeral. Especially do we wish to thank the Revs. J.W. Kilbourne and Robert Radabaugh for their kind words of sympathy and condolence, the singers, the members of Alexander-Mitchell Post, G.A.R. and the undertakers.--Mrs. W.D. Snyder and Children.
