Mrs. Sharon E. Rozek, of Frederick, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, July 12, 2008. She was a resident of Crestwood Village.
Sharon was born in Toledo, Ohio, and was the daughter of Marion Fox Schnell of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and the late Robert W. Schnell. Her mother has told of little incidents from Sharon's childhood. A favorite came about when it was learned that Sharon had used a crayon to scribble on the wallpaper of a room. As her punishment, she was told to stand in the corner of the room, and while standing there, she deftly used her little fingers to peel some of the paper from the wall. To say that Sharon had a mind of her own would have been an understatement. We loved her, too, for that characteristic.
Sharon was a 1959 graduate of DeVilbiss High School in Toledo. She attended Bowling Green State University, and was a graduate of Davis Business College in Toledo. Mrs. Rozek's working career spanned 33 years, during which she held receptionist, secretarial and retail management positions. She was also a teacher's aide while residing in Citrus Heights, Calif. Her last position was with the National Institutes of Health in Poolesville.
For relaxation, Sharon enjoyed reading (Sydney Sheldon novels were her favorites), latch hook, sewing and assembling her collection of bells. Her least favorite activities were yardwork, gardening, and household dusting; activities which, early on in her marriage, were quickly and cleverly dispatched to her husband...he didn't mind.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, David of Frederick; son, John and wife, Heather, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; son, Jeff and wife, Nikki, of Frederick; grandsons, Matthew and Cody; a sister, Linda Crino of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Bobbi Bernard and husband, Jerry, of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a brother-in-law, Norman Rozek and wife, Karen, of Canal Fulton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Linda Collins and husband, Tom, of Yorba Linda, Calif. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The Rozek family wishes to thank the staff at Frederick Memorial Hospital and the staff at Northampton Manor Nursing Home for their kindness and caring.
A private, family service, not yet scheduled, will be held. Inurnment will be in the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Rozek's name to the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission, Attn: Pastor Crowe, P.O. Box 843, Martinsburg, WV 25402. We thank you.
