| Birth: | Oct. 9, 1927 | | Death: | Jun. 6, 2005 |  Actor. Best remembered for his role as 'Peter Thornton' on the television series "MacGyver" from 1985 to 1992. Born in Ferndale, Michigan, he ran away from home at age 13 and after watching "Citizen Kane" was inspired to go into acting. Diagnosed with the onset of glaucoma induced blindness in 1990, he continued on MacGyver until it ended in 1992. His television career which began in 1959 and lasted over 45 years with over 100 guest appearances also included "Baretta" with Robert Blake and the Robert Conrad series "Black Sheep Squadron." His also performed in some 40 films such as "The Sting," "2010," "All of Me" and "The Learning Tree." Also performed in off-Broadway plays like "The Dumb Waiter," "The Caretaker," "Under Milk Wood" and Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot." (bio by: Fred Beisser)
