Arthur E. Wenning, Proprietor Wenning Packing Company Dies In Minnesota
Arthur E. Wenning, proprietor of the Wenning Packing Co. and his nephew, Bobby Baylor, of Central Barren, accompanied by Dr. Harry E. Voyles and son of New Albany, left Saturday for Minnesota, where Mr. Wenning suffered a stroke Tuesday morning at Saw Bill Lodge near Duluth, Minnesota. Mrs. Wenning and daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Herthel, were called to his bedside, but before they arrived, he suffered a second stoke and never regained consciousness. He died Thursday morning at 2:00 o'clock. Besides his wife, Mrs. Anna Wenning, and daughter, Mrs. Ward Herthel, he is survived by two grandchildren Ramona and Martin Herthel, four sisters Mrs. David Diedrich, of New Albany, Mrs. Emma Baylor, Mrs. Orville Wolfe, Mrs. Everett Kennedy, Central Barren, three brothers William Wenning, Hancock chapel, Lee Wenning, Palmyra, and earl Wenning, New Albany. Funeral arrangements pending arrival of body.


MORGAN TOWNSHIP INDUSTRIAL HEAD SUCCUMBS Last rites for Arthur E. Wenning were held at the Methodist Church, Central Barren, Monday at 2:00 P.M., by the rev. R. L. Spann, assisted by Dr. Page, Rev. Wilson, and Rev. Rice. Interment was made in Central Barren. Arthur Edmund Wenning, the son of Mary and Paul Wenning, was born near Central Barren, Indiana, on January 31, 1888, and departed this life on August 21, 1947, near Duluth, Minnesota, at the age of 59 years, 6 months, and 21 days. He was united in marriage on march 9, 1909, to Anna Kahl, to whom one daughter was born, namely, Mrs. Wilma Hertel, of Central Barren, Indiana. He is survived by two grandchildren, Ramona and Martin Herthel, all of whom reside at Central Barren, Indiana. He also leaves four sisters, namely, Mrs. Flora Diedrich, of New Albany, Indiana, Mrs. Emma Baylor, Mrs. Sylvia Kennedy, and Mrs. Ruth Wolfe, all of whom reside at Central Barren, Indiana. Three brothers namely, Lee Wenning of Palmyra, William Wenning of Hancock Chapel, and Earl Wenning of New Albany. The deceased was a lifelong member of the Central Barren Methodist Church and has been influential in its upkeep and activities for many years. His frequent and liberal contributions to just causes of humanity regardless of scope, has greatly added to the advancement of our community and Souther Indiana. As a young man, he entered the field of business as the operator of a small country store at Central Barren, Indiana. It was through this business he conceived the idea of peddling meat to his customers whom he contacted weekly by a peddling wagon. From this humble birth of a business started in a peddling wagon, has sprang forth a business which has reached undreamed of proportions. The deceased was a beloved husband, a dear father, and a valuable citizen of Indiana.
