Oct 22, 1982 - Humboldt county Republican - Funeral services for Delmar B. McEntaffer, 69, of Britt, former Humboldt businessman, were held Thursday at 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Britt with burial in Union Cemetery at Livermore. He died Tuesday morning at Britt hospital of a heart attack. The Carter Ewing Funeral Home at Britt was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Cleora, Britt; son, Joe, Casper, Wyo.; daughter, Mrs. Denny (Charl) Sheffelman, Billings, Mont.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Deward Hohenstien, San Diego, Calif.; and brothers, Robert, Ravinia, S.D.; and James, Charleston, S.C.
Mr. McEntaffer was born at Emerson, Neb. He attended Wayne State University at Wayne, Neb., where he received his teaching certificate. After graduation, he was a jazz player with the College Club Orchestra for several years. Then he attended the Elgin Watchmakers College, Elgin, Illinois.
He married Cleora B. Tillson in Livermore in 1936. He opened a jewelry store in Humboldt before World War II. During the war, he was employed with Gouldings Jewelry Store in Illinois, which repaired the naval vessel clocks
and time pieces. He also was an instructor at the Elgin Watchmakers College at this time. After the war, he returned to Humboldt, where he was in business until 1949. He moved to Britt and opened the McEntaffer Jewelry Store, which he operated until his death. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Britt, the Lions Club, Britt Chamber of Commerce and Iowa Watchmakers Guild. He was a worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
