Martha Jane New Atha, age 84, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019, in Frankfort. Mrs. Atha was born in Owenton, Kentucky, on April 9, 1935, to the late Ralph New and Sybil Ellis New. She was united in marriage to Charles Douglas Atha, who also preceded her in death. She retired from the Kentucky State Government Department of Human Resources after serving many years as a data processor. A faithful member of Camp Pleasant Baptist Church, she loved to attend services. She enjoyed time on the road traveling and antiquing and tending to her flowers and feeding the birds outside her home. An avid Elvis fan, she spent time listening to his music and collecting memorabilia. Above all, she was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Mark Atha (Donald Wilcox), Skot Atha, Greg Atha, and Pam Atha; beloved granddaughter, Skyler Atha; and great-grandsons, Malachi and Joseph. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy and Jack New. Burial will follow at Monterey Cemetery. Owen county, Kentucky.
