A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bostrom played the position of Defense for teams in the NHL, PCHA, WCHL, AHA, SSHL, Can-Am, IHL, St-Cup, WHL, Al-Cup, and the WSRHL hockey leagues. At 5'08, and 185lbs, Bostrom played for the Moose Jaw Maple Leafs from 1919 to 1921, Edmonton Eskimos from 1921 to 1923, Vancouver Maroons from 1923 to 1926, Minneapolis Millers from 1926 to 1930, Chicago Blackhawks from 1929 to 1933, St. Paul Greyhounds from 1932 to 1933, Tulsa Oilers from 1932 to 1933, Oklahoma City Warriors from 1933 to 1934, Philadelphia Arrows from 1934 to 1935, Syracuse Stars from 1934 to 1935, and the Kansas City Greyhounds from 1935 to 1936. Bostrom was also head coach of the St. Paul Greyhounds from 1932 to 1933, Tulsa Oilers from 1932 to 1933, and the Kansas City Greyhounds from 1937 to 1939. Bostrom retired from hockey in 1936. Also a veteran of World War I, Bostrom served with the Canadian Army and the 1st Depot Battalion Manitoba Regiment. Bostrom died in Red Deer, Minnesota, on January 23, 1977, at the age of 83.
