Joseph Hartley was born 1 Jan 1864 in Jackson County, Oh. His wife Malisa Castle was 70 years old at the time of his death. He died on 13 May 1944 and was 80y-4m-13 days old. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Jerusalem Chapel at Allen Ridge in Pike County in the charge of Rev. George Maple for Joseph Hartley 80, of Lucasville Route 3 who died on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at his home on Miller's Run of infirmities. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery under the direction of Davis-Hammerstein Funeral Home, Beaver.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Samantha.
Mr. Hartley is survived by his wife Malisa; a daughter, Mrs. Della Grow, both of Beaver; a foster son, George Allen of Springfield Route 4; a brother Thomas of Jackson Route 3; two sisters; Mrs. Rosa Wolfe, of Washington, C.H. and Mrs. Janie Chamberlain of Springfield.
