Ozni Benderman, a life long resident of Mt. Pleasant, and a very highly respected citizen, died Monday morning at 10 o'clock at his residence following an illness of several weeks. He was seventy-three years of age and a faithful member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church. He is survived by two brothers, John and Thomas Benderman of Mt. Pleasant, and the following children: Mrs. John Howard, Lawrenceburg; Mrs. Joe Smith, Jacksonville, Ill.; Miss Delania Benderman, a trained nurse now in France; Miss Eva Benderman of Mt. Pleasant; and two sons, T. L. Benderman, Lawrenceburg, and C. E. Benderman of Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Albert Holt.

[NOTE: On 5/15/2010, the Capt. James Madison Sparkman Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, honored Ozni with a grave marking ceremony and placement of a military gravestone in Reese's Chapel Cemetery. A newspaper article regarding the ceremony was published in the Daily Herald on 6/11/2010. Upon reading the article, Benderman relatives brought to the attention of the UDC that not only was this stone placed in the wrong cemetery, it had an incorrect death year on it. The stone was removed from Reese's Cemetery on Aug. 4, 2010.]
