She was born as Theressa Bissell in Wisconsin on July 30, 1869, and when two years of age came with her parents to Nebraska, where they made their home at Bell Creek (now Arlington). Later they moved to a farm near Blair.
She was married to Phineas Wilcox on January 3, 1889. They took up farming near Blair and to them two children were born, Minott and Levi, both of whom preceded her in death.
In the early 1930's Mr. Wilcox purchased a farm six miles south of Blair where they resided for a number of years. The husband died on May 27, 1935, as the result of burns received while working in a field.
With the son, Minott, Mrs. Wilcox continued farming and after the death of the son she continued her residence on the farm until about a year and a half ago when she sold the farm and moved to Blair and purchased a home here where she resided until her death.
Being an early settler and the wife of a pioneer she knew the trying times of that early age and while her hands were busy caring for the needs of her own household she found time to take into her home an orphaned infant only four months old, whom she cared for as her own and reared him to manhood. This was Chauncey Wright, a nephew.
Quietly she lived her life, doing her bit towards humanity and her family was always in her mind, working and caring for them as best she could.
She leaves a large number of nieces and nephews in this country and in different parts who will mourn deeply her passing.
Funeral rites were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Methodist Church with Rev. Dickerson officiating and interment under the supervision of the Campbell Mortuary was made in the Blair Cemetery.
During the ceremony a grand nephew, Stanley Menking, sang two solos, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Somewhere," Six grand nephews also acted as pallbearers. They were Wilfred Gilfrey, James Skow, Elton Bissell, Clyde Nelsen, Clark Jahnel and John Gallagher.
