Hedrick D. Hooper, age 90, of Tellico Plains, Tenn., passed away 6:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Sweetwater Hospital. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church and attended Unicoi Baptist Church. A veteran of World War II, member of Brown Hill Masonic Lodge #613, an honorary member of Mt. View Masonic Lodge, Maryville and a Scottish Rite. Retired from ALCOA Aluminum Co.
Survivors, wife, Lodema Taylor Hooper; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Tony McGill, Madisonville; sons and daughter-in-law, Gary Douglas and Vivian Hooper, Madisonville, Dennis Hooper, Vonore; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister, Mae Torbett, Madisonville; brothers, Kenneth Hooper, Madisonville, Harold Hooper, Tellico Plains; several nieces and nephews; stepchildren and spouses, Judy and Robby Watson, Madisonville, Matthew and Linda Prock, Athens, Jarvis and Velvet Prock, Michael Prock, all of Tellico Plains; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by first wife, Helen Coppenger; son, Floyd Hooper; parents, Dewey and Emma Roberts Hooper; brothers, Ray and Earl Hooper.
Funeral 8 p.m. Saturday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, with Rev. Carl Croft officiating. Interment 2 p.m. Sunday, New Providence Cemetery, with military honors provided by V.F.W. Post #5156, and D.A.V. #93. Masonic service 7:45 p.m. Saturday provided by Brown Hill Masonic Lodge #613. Family will receive friends 6-7:45 p.m. Saturday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Tellico Plains.
