RITES WEDNESDAY FOR OTT RICHTER

Funeral services were held yesterday (Wednesday) for Albert (Ott) Richter, pioneer Washington County citizen and former Blair business man, his death having occurred at Omaha last Sunday evening at 8:35 p.m. He died at the Nicholas Senn Hospital after an illness of slightly over a week.

Ott Richter was born at Omaha September 16, 1865 and came to Blair shortly after with his parents. At the time of his death he lacked but nine days of 76 years of age. He grew to manhood in this vicinity and spent his days of his youth working with his father and brothers on the then flourishing brick yard in west Blair. Later, he entered the saloon business here, finally shifting to the confectionary business and was last engaged in the smoke house business, at which post many Blairites remember him.

He was married on December 11, 1889 at Blair to Miss Phoebe Schmidt to which union four sons were born, all of whom survive. They are, John Richter, of Natchitoches, Louisiana; Albert Richter, with the U.S. Navy at San Diego, California; Harry Richter at Des Moines, Iowa; and Kenneth Richter of Omaha. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Barbara and Jack, children of Mr. and Mrs. John Richter; and Norma Richter, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Richter. Mrs. Richter preceded her husband in death, having passed away in Blair in 1911.

The deceased was the last of four brothers, all of whom had grown up and engaged in business in this community. Another brother, Henry, passed away only two weeks ago.

Mr. Richter left Blair in 1927 to live with his oldest son, John. Since then he has resided in Missouri, Louisiana and Arkansas and was a visitor at the home of Kenneth Richter in Omaha when he became sick and failed to recover.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Campbell Mortuary with the Rev. H.C. Jul Frese in charge.

Pall bearers were Gail (Happy) Stricklett, Clifton Robinson, Orval Scheffler, William Fick, Jr., Clifford Krause and Theo. Lundt.

Burial was made in the Blair cemetery.
