I'm so sorry for your loss. I knew James at Loring AFB. I was one of his supervisors. Once he lost a gold ring with about 12 diamonds in it. I found it, and when he described it to me, I gave it back to him and told him I'd found it in the sink area after he'd washed his hands and left. He tried to give me money for returning it to him, saying it was a treasured gift from his father. I told him I'd settle for a cheeseburger, which he did get that night. I have been looking for James for a long time, as we have a website dedicated to the 42 SPS at Loring AFB, and there are pictures of him there. We have been able to find over 700 former SPS who were at Loring. I am saddened that I've found him too late. God bless. ~ John Hammett, Bangor, Maine

I just heard that James passed. I was stationed with Bam Bam in Berlin and was honored to know him as a friend. What a tragic loss of such a great person. He was one of the most positive and outgoing people I have ever met. We all not only respected him professionally, but treasured his company socially. I am so sorry for your loss.

Mr. and Mrs. Bursey, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. James was my first supervisor when I arrived at Tempelhof Central Airport in Berlin, Germany. He was more than just a boss, he was OUR friend. I spent the rest of my career in the Air Force just trying to emulate him. He was the one we counted on most whenever a problem arose. He had a way of making things better no matter the situation. Heaven got better upon his arrival. Speaking for the rest of "C" Flight, "Bam-Bam" Rest In Peace!! You will be truly missed.

Mr. and Mrs. Bursey and Family, it was my great pleasure to meet with James for the first and only time about a year ago while visiting the A&M campus on business. James was very friendly to me, and immediately struck me as a kind, smart, professional man with a wonderful outlook on life. I only regret not having had more chances to work with him and get to know him better, and I am thankful to him for his service to our country. Please accept my sympathies for your loss, and my prayers are with you all. May God bring you comfort and understanding during this time of great loss to your family. ~ Brian Echtenkamp, Arvada, Colorado

For years, I used to sit behind James and his friends every Sunday at the Fox & Hound and root against his Dallas Cowboys ... we both enjoyed teasing each other about our favorite teams, and I was honored to eventually count him as a friend. I didn't know him well, but even when I saw him at work here on campus, he always had a smile on his face, and I was tremendously fond of him. I was stunned and saddened to hear of his passing... I'll miss him so much. Godspeed, James, and How Bout Them Cowboys!?

James was more than a co-worker, he was truly a great friend. Even after having moved on from my job at Telecommunications, James and I kept in touch often. I always looked forward to his smile and fun loving attitude. I use to tell him I wished I could carry him around in my pocket, and bring him out when I was having a bad day, because he always knew what to say to brighten my day up. I was lucky enough to be able to have James as a part of my wedding party, and I am so thankful I have that lasting memory of him. I have many pictures of James from that special day, and if any family members or friends would like for me to send them to you, please email me at: nickadelia@yahoo.com. I also have various other photos of the many memories he helped create. He was a great person, and a dear friend, and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.

James and his partner, Cardell, would come to my office often and play practical jokes on me. James loved picking out candy from my candy jar on my desk. He was always smiling and I just adored him! He died too soon, but I know he lived a very happy and full life and you all must have been very, very proud of him. May God keep you strong with wonderful memories of him.

To the Family of James Bursey aka "friend". My name is Amanda Yates and I work for State Farm and had the pleasure of doing James' insurance for the last several years. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing and I wanted to share some memories with you all and to let you know that you all will be in my prayers. James always talked about his sisters and how they were "something else". He always said that with a hearty laugh and a smile on his face. He loved you ladies very much. Mr. Bursey and Mrs. Bursey he always talked about the "good upbringing" you guys gave him and the look upon his face when he talked about you let you know how much he admired and respected you. There was never a time that he didnt have a smile on his face and a kind word to say. James was a good man and I am going to miss our monthly meetings. I always looked forward to him coming in to make his payments because I knew I was gonna get a good laugh or two. He always made it a point to check on me to make sure I was doing ok. I told him he could pay his bill over the phone but he always said he liked coming in so he could see us face to face and harass us. My nickname for him is friend, cause that is who he was to his heart and soul, a true friend. I pray that God will give you all comfort and peace in the days to come. Your son and brother was an awesome man and will be truly missed by many. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you all. My e-mail is amandarei76@gmail.com. In the Love of Christ.
