DELHI — Ethel Scobie, a lifelong area resident, formerly of Walton, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Delaware County Countryside Care Center, Delhi, where she had been residing. She was 87.
Mrs. Scobie was born in Walton on Sept. 14, 1914, to George and Edna Stranigan Coulter.
She married Andrew Scobie in Walton on June 25, 1935. He predeceased her in 1970. She was a housewife.
Ethel Scobie is survived by a son, Bruce Scobie, of Virginia; grandchildren, Linda Balcom, Sidney, and Jodie and Jessica Scobie of Virginia; a great-granddaughter, Yvonne Swislosky; a great-grandson, Anatolie Donenko; and great-great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Victoria Swislosky.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, George Scobie; and a brother, Arthur Coulter.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lyon Bros.-Way Inc. Funeral Home, corner of North and Delaware Streets, Walton, where friends may call Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. James F. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
