That Winnifred Reid was the daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Clayton) Reid is known from Pendleton Distinct will records. In Nathaniel Reid's will, dated 1798, Winnifred Hood is listed as one of his children. Nathaniel Reid died on 01 Sep 1798 and was buried at the Oolenoy Baptist Church Cemetery, Pumpkintown, Pickens Co., S.C. Nathaniel Reid and Elizabeth Clayton were married 05 Apr 1760 in Augusta Co., VA. Note: In the records, the Reid/Reed name is used interchangeably.

Winnifred "Winney" Elizabeth Reid married William W. Hood about 1799 as their first child, Zilman S. Hood, was born about 1800. Winnifred "Winney" Elizabeth Reid was born in North Carolina about 1775.

The 1800 US Census enumerated the household of the widowed Elizabeth (Clayton) Reed/Reid (age range 45 and over) which also contained a male (age range 16-25). Two households away was the home of William W. Hood who first shows up in the census records in the 1800 Pendleton District, S.C. census. It enumerated himself (age range 16-25 [born between 1775-1784]), one male under age 10 and one female 16-25 years old [his wife, Winnifred "Winney" Elizabeth Reid, daughter of Elizabeth (Clayton) Reid].

William W. Hood appears in the 1810 census of the Pendleton District, S.C. Besides himself (age range 26-44) and his wife, Winnifred (age range 16-44), in the household, there were two males under the age of 10, one male 10-16, and one female under the age of 10.

Sometime after December 1815, William and Winnifred became residents of Franklin Co., GA. This is proven by a deed dated 14 Dec 1816 when William purchased 25 acres of land located on Beaverdam Creek for $140 from Larkin Butler. The deed stated that William was a resident of Franklin Co, GA. William's son, Nathaniel, married Larkin Butler's daughter, Louisa, a few years later.

In 1826 William and Winnifred, his wife. were charter members of Beaverdam Baptist Church of Franklin Co. near current day Commerce, Banks Co., GA.

The 1830 US Census of Franklin Co., CA enumerated the household of William W. Hood (age range 50-59) and his wife, Winnifred (age range 50-59. Also living in the household were: one male (15-19); one male (20-29) and two females (10-14).

William and Winnifred raised a large family in Franklin Co., GA. William and his sons were large land owners supported by extant tax and land records. He and his sons appear on innumerable extant tax lists in Franklin Co., GA from the years 1818-1842. His last appearance in the tax lists was 1842. Beginning in 1834, William W. Hood no longer was listed as a poll for taxing purposes (the poll tax was a specific sum to be paid by a person between 21 and 60 years of age. It was levied exclusively on males without regard to property ownership). Thus, it is known by 1834, William had turned sixty so his birth date of 1774 is plausible.

William W. Hood (age range 60-69) and his wife, Winnifred (age range 60-69), were enumerated in the 1840 US Census of District 207, Franklin Co., GA. Also residing in the household were a male (20-29) and a two females (20-29). Living in adjacent households were their sons, Zilmon S. Hood (age range 40-49) and Nathaniel R. Hood (age range 30-39).

The 1850 US Census of Franklin Co., GA was the last time "Winney" (Winnifred) Hood and her husband, William W. Hood appear in the census records. William W. Hood was 78 Y/O and his wife, Winnifred, was 77 Y/O in 1850. These dates have been proven to be somewhat inaccurate. No documentation has been found as to the death date of William W. Hood but Winnifred's death is documented in the Beaverdam Church Minutes as October 1854. At the time Beaverdam Church was located in Franklin County but today it in Banks County which was formed from parts of Franklin County in 1858.

The children of William W. and Winnifred (Reid) Hood were:
1) Zilman S. Hood, b. Circa 1800 Prob. Pendleton District, S.C., d. Dec 1846/47 Georgia, m. Harriett C. Morrison on 21 Oct 1824 Jackson Co., GA.

3) Nathaniel R. Hood, b. Circa 1802 South Carolina, d. 28 Oct 1854 Franklin Co., GA, m. Louisa Butler 03 Nov 1831 in Jackson Co., GA.
