Cecil E. Robbins
WALTON — Cecil E. Robbins, a former Walton resident, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Catskill, N.Y., where had been residing. He was 92.
Mr. Robbins was born on Nov. 19, 1909, in Lounsbury, N.Y., to Orrin and Grace Gernert Robbins. On Dec. 10, 1941, he married Christina Rinsma in Walton. She predeceased him in 1981.
He began farming on Dunk Hill in the spring of 1942 and retired from farming in October of 1974. He then worked 10 years at the Walton Cemetery and at the William B. Ogden Free Library in Walton, retiring at age 85.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Walton, a 50-year member of the Walton Grange, a member and 1973 Jersey Cattle Club Man of the Year and member of Walton Senior Citizens, as well as volunteer at Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton.
Cecil E. Robbins is survived by daughters Crystal Monteverd of Freehold, N.Y., and Elaine Schaffer, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew and Brian Monteverd and Katie Schaffer.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lyon Bros.-Way Inc. Funeral Home, at the corner of North and Delaware Streets in Walton, where friends may call Tuesday, Jan. 22, from noon to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James Martin, of his late church, officiating, and burial in Walton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the United Presbyterian Church, Walton, would be appreciated.
