He was born on Sept. 14, 1927 in Potsdam, son of Amos and Lora Pepper Bresee.
He married Rita Ruport on May 30, 1953, at Trinity Episcopal Church. The marriage ended in divorce on Jan. 3, 1975.
He served in the Navy from March 14, 1945, to June 24, 1946, and was a construction worker in Potsdam and Rochester. He was a truck driver and yard worker for Chester G. Bisnett's scrap yard, a driver for Garner Funeral Home and an independent junk dealer.
Surviving were his companion of 29 years, Elaine Clemons; a son, Robert, Madres, CA; two daughters, Christine Bresee, Fremont, Calif., and Karen Haas, Dublin, CA; Ms. Clemons's five sons, Daniel, Kevin and Kenneth Clemons, all of Potsdam, Darwin Clemons, Syracuse, and David Clemons, Malone; three sisters, Lora Saccone, Syracuse, Blanche McGill , Potsdam, and Edith Spears, Groton, Conn.; two grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Charles and Lloyd, and nine sisters, Luthera York, Eleanor Caringi, Leona Cary, Iva Simmons, Ina Tucker, Grace Simmons, and Isabelle, Lois and Helena Bresee, died before him.
