She was born in Potsdam on Oct. 5, 1930, daughter of Amos and Lora Tupper Bresee.
She was married to Boyd A. Simmons, an Edwardsville native, on Jan. 26, 1949. He was a former employee of the Newton Falls Paper Mill. He died in 1977 at the age of 49.
Surviving were a son, Richard of Lorton, VA; two daughters, Sandra of Oakland, CA and Lisa of Cortland; two brothers, Amos Bresee of Potsdam and Lloyd Bresee of Syracuse; five sisters, Edith Spears of Potsdam, Blanch McGill of Pennsylvania; Eleanor Caring of Norwood and Laura Saccone and Leona Carey, both of Syracuse; an aunt, Frances Bice of Ogdensburg; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
