Age 83 years, 10 months, 26 days. Blacksmith. He was a musician in the cavalry during the Civil War having joined as a teenager. He married his first wife Mary Elizabeth Kendall, daughter of Edward J. Kendall in Hickory County, MO.
Mac/Max/McCloud and Tobitha/Tobiatha were married in 1861, only months before McCloud enlisted in the Civil War with his father. A letter written by McCloud's granddaughter, Nellie F. Benson, says her grandfather, Abel Macloud Benson, never returned from the Civil War.
