Mrs. Julia A. Brown, wife of Eli Brown, died at her home 3 miles South of Bryan Sunday morning, following an illness of several months. She was nearly 83 years old. Funeral services will be held at the Brown home Tuesday afternoon and the remains will be placed in the mausoleum at Fountain Grove Cemetery. - Bryan Democrat, May 15, 1917.
Julia Ann Weller was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania June 11, 1834 and died near Bryan May 13, 1917, aged 82 years, 11 months and two days. She was married to Eli Brown June 30, 1869 at William Center, with whom she lived most happily until the day of her death. To this union were born one son, William Alexander, who died when but 18 months old. As a young woman she set herself to the task of securing an education and, after the common school, she entered Mrs. French's Academy, paying her way by her own efforts. Finishing her course with honors she took up teaching and was a successful teacher until her marriage. She united with the M. E. Church at 15 years old and lived a consistent member until her death. Funeral services were held at her late home 3 miles South of Bryan Tuesday, her pastor, Rev. W. A. Deaton officiating. A large circle of friends and neighbors were attendant upon the services. The burial was in the mausoleum of Fountain Grove Cemetery. - Bryan Democrat, May 29, 1917.
