Lucille Sedlacek Belka, 86, Wilber, formerly Crete, died Tuesday (8/10/04) in Wilber. Born, Crete (12/13/17). She attended Doane College where she was a drum majorette. She graduated magna cum laude. She taught English and drama. In 1938 she was voted runner-up in the Miss Nebraska Pageant.
Married, Wilson P. Belka, August 1941. Lucy was the mother of four sons, Thomas, Gerald, William and James. Member, Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, 36 years, and dedicated herself to the Altar Society and the choir for most of those years.
Lucy suffered from Alzheimer's for six years and resided in the Wilber Care Center since 1999. Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the staff there for their very kind and loving care, especially Cindy, Marsha, Angie, Diane, Pam, Jan R., Jan N., Janette and Kristan.
Survivors: sons; daughters-in-law; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Sedlacek; nieces; nephews; nieces-in-law, Marge Manglitz, Betty Kemper. Preceded in death by husband, Wilson, 2003; brother, Gene, 2002; son, William, 1960.
Funeral Mass: 2 p.m. Monday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Crete. Church cemetery. Pallbearers: Thomas, Gerald, James, Brad, Brian Belka. No visitation. Memorials to the Wilber Care Center; Alzheimer's Association.
