Loomis worked at the Burlington Marble company before joining Shepard & Morse Lumber. He then worked as a machinist for the Wright Machine Company. Loomis was working as a machinist when he married Mary Myers on July 26, 1867 in Colchester, Vermont.
After Mary's death, Loomis and Elizabeth Mary LeGentleman married.
An obituary was published in The Burlington Free Press (Burlington, Vermont) on February 18, 1932.
