Funeral services for Eddie W. Harms were held 10:00 Wednesday morning, October 2, 1996 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church at rural Monticello. The Rev. Eugene Schipper officiated at the service. Interment was at Wayne Zion Cemetery.
Eddie W. Harms, age 78, died Sunday morning September 29, at his residence following a brief illness.
Eddie was born July 12, 1918 at the family farm near Amber. He was the son of Henry E. and Dena Weers Harms. He attended Black Oak School near Amber and on August 28, 1947, he was united in marriage with Kathleen Leibold at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church by the Rev. Kerhen. Eddie farmed near Amber and lived with his mother. He continued to farm until 1967 at which time he moved to Anamosa and started work at the Anamosa Silo Plant where he worked for eighteen years. He enjoyed music, played the organ and accordion. He loved to create things with his hands and enjoyed playing cards with his friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen: one brother, Carl (Laura) of Anamosa; a sister-in-law, Henrietta Harms of Onslow and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Molly Osterkamp; four brothers, Henry, Albert, John, Herman and three siblings that died in infancy.
