David Goode was baptized 31 Oct 1762 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster County, PA. He and his 1st wife Elizabeth Waltz (married c1787, PA) moved to MD, then to Franklin County, VA, in 1790. They settled at Chestnut Creek near the present site of Providence Church on the "Old Carolina Road." After the death of Elizabeth, David Goode married Lucy Arthur. He died in 1851 and is likely buried at the Goode Family Home Place.

David Goode bought the Obadiah White Stage Stop in 1812. The stage stop was in the family from that time until ***
when it was torn down. My dad, Andrew R. Dyer, great grandson of Olive Goode Pearson who was born at the stage stop and the Goode home, passed on to me the comment that at the time of the great migration, you could stand at the front of the Obadiah White Stage Stop and "look up and down the Carolina or Great Wagon Road and see Conestoga Wagons for as far as the eye could see!"
