The Rev. Mr. Mitzell, who resised in York had been a patient in the hospital since January 13.
He was the husband of Kathryn Ehrhart Mitzell, who died in 1963. He was the father of television and movie star Cameron Mitchell, Pacific Palisades, California.
The Rev Mr Mitzell was born in Windsor Township, son of the late Clarence W and Matilda Paules Mitzell.
He also served pastorates in Maytown, Lancaster County, Everett, Bedford County and Chicora, Butler County.
The Rev. Mr. Mitzell was a graduate of York County Academy, Franklin and Marshall College Lancaster, and Lancaster Theological Seminary.
An avid baseball fan, he reactivated the Southern York County Baseball League in the 1930's.
He was state president and vice president of the former Pennsylvania Farmers Union. He was one of the founders of the Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union of York County.
Surviving also are two daughters, Katherine Irwin, Iris Fries; three other sons, Carlyle B. Mitzell, Charles P. Mitzell, Channing E. Mitzell, 20 grandchildren and two brothers, Clarence W. Mitzell, and Raymond L. Mitzell.
The Rev Eldon E. Ehrhart, pastor of McClure's UCC, Harrisburg, will officiate at a private funeral service at 10am friday from the Dodson Funeral Home.
