Kenneth Lavern "Bud" Conn, 55, of Rathbun passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 in Des Moines. He was born the son of Kenneth L. and Wortha Marie (Franklin) Conn on Sept. 11, 1953 in Iowa City.

The son of a coal miner Kenneth's early childhood was spent in Jerome and later in Cincinnati, Iowa. He was employed by Kaiser Corp for 11 years as the head mechanic and later went to International Union of Operating Engineers No. 234B as a heavy machine operator. Kenneth spent a lot of his free time along the river banks of Appanoose County fishing, hunting and trapping the land enjoying the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, an infant brother Kenneth Preston Conn and an infant son.

Kenneth was a free spirited man never wanting to spend his time inside. He enjoyed many outdoor BBQ with friends and family.
