GUILFORD - Dorothy E. Flanders, 73, died June 23, 1999, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Monson, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Arnold) Hammond. She graduated from Guilford High School, Class of 1944, and worked for many years at Hardwood Products Co. in Guilford. She was very active at the Guilford United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school for many years and was active with the United Methodist Women. She and her husband hosted a morning Bible study at their home for many years. She was also a member of the Carpo Club in Guilford and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Linwood Flanders of Guilford; a son and his wife, Dale and Julia Flanders of Lexington, Mass.; a daughter and her husband, Sherry and Brent Wilber of Corinna; four grandchildren, whom she dearly loved and who were an important part of her life, Peter and his wife, Vicki Wilber of South Carolina, Angela and her husband, Adam Cupples of Massachusetts, and Alice and Lauren Flanders of Massachusetts; and a great-granddaughter, Kylie Wilber of South Carolina; three sisters, Jeanette Dexter of Dover-Foxcroft, Audrey Young and her husband, Robert of Florida, and Florence Hanscom of Florida; a brother, Everett Hammond of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Oak Street, Guilford. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Guilford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Margaret "Dodie" Stowe officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Cemetery in Guilford. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her memory to the Guilford United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
