MR. ROBERT HARLAN BARLOW
Robert Harlan Barlow, 84, resident of Sterling House North in Bartlesville, and formerly of Collinsville, died at 5:15 A.M. Friday in Bartlesville.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Kevin Linblocker of the Faith Fellowship Church in Collinsville officiating. Full Military Honors were presented the members of the James H. Teel Post #105 of the Bartlesville American Legion. Funeral services and cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mr. Barlow was a native of Hominy Oklahoma, born there on April 15, 1929 to Roy Everett and Hazel Aura (Harlan) Barlow.
He grew up and received his early education in Hominy, until coming to Bartlesville with his family. He joined the U.S. Army at age 17, in July of 1946, and served during World War II in the Army Air Corp, stationed in Okinawa with the Occupation Army. He served until his honorable discharge in July of 1949, after which he moved to Tulsa where he attended Spartan School of Aeronautics, graduating in July of 1951 with his Pilot's license.
In August of that year he began his career with American Airlines where he worked for over 38 years, as a Test cell crew chief, doing test flights on aircraft, until his retirement in 1989. He was also a flight instructor for many years, and a very accomplished pilot.
He was married to Virginia Brantley on July 14, 1950, at Wolco, Oklahoma. They made their home in Tulsa till 1963, and later at Wolco, until moving to Collinsville, Oklahoma in 1968, where they made their home for many years.
Mrs. Barlow preceded him in death in 2003, at which time he made his home with his daughter and son-in-law; Denise & Kenny Downing in the Ramona area until his health caused him to become a resident at Sterling House North in 2008.
They enjoyed their lake home on Grand Lake, where his hobbies included boating, flying, and mowing. He loved people and helping his friends and neighbors, enjoyed life and lived life to the fullest. He was also a 32nd degree Mason of the Collinsville Lodge # 165.
Mr. Barlow is survived by his daughter Denise Downing and her husband Kenny, of Ramona
And by six grandchildren, Blane Thompson, his wife Ginger of Yukon, Oklahoma, Brian Barlow, his wife Lori of Broken Arrow, OK, Ryan Thompson, of Ochelata, OK., and Shelly Barlow of Broken Arrow OK; Travis Barlow, his wife Kristi of Checotah, Oklahoma and Tosha Wyatt, her husband Trevor of Ochelata; by 14 Great-grandchildren, two nephews Keith Barlow of Bartlesville, and Tim Barlow and wife Diane of Owasso, OK.
Mr. Barlow was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Virginia Brantley Barlow, by a son Bobby Barlow in 2007 and by one Brother Dick Barlow in 2010.
