OBITUARY :
MR. GALEN C. "JOHN" ZEGER, 75, of 2156 Buchannan Trail East, Greencastle, PA, died at 1:20 A.M., Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home.

Born April 21, 1938 in Quincy Township, PA he was the son of the late Albert and Cornelia (Gearhart) Zeger. He spent most of his life in the Shady Grove area.

Mr. Zeger graduated with the 1956 class of Greencastle Antrim High School.

He and his wife of 57 years, Frances (Bowders) Zeger, were married on April 25, 1956. They resided at their current residence, the Zeger family home place, for the past 18 years. They formerly resided on Clayhill Road.

Mr. Zeger was employed by UPS at the Chambersburg location as a package delivery person for 35 years before retiring in 1999.

He enjoyed farming and spending time at his Potter County camp. The camp was a big part of his life and the location of many family gathering.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Karen Showalter and her husband Darrel, of Greencastle and his son, Rodney L. Zeger and his wife Stacy, of Chambersburg; four grandchildren: Matt, Marc, Tony, Kelly; his great granddaughter Bailey; three sisters: Ruby Oberholzer, of Greencastle, Pat Martin, of Greencastle, Jackie Izer, of Greencastle; his brother Thomas Zeger, of Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Doris Piper, Eleanor Danzberger; and his brother, Ted Zeger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 13, 2013 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle, with Rev. Dean Gearhart officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, and for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Dirve, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
