Cryptside services for John Bauer of Newberg will be held at 11 a.m. today (13th) in Valley View Memorial Park, Newberg. The Rev. Father Gregory Gage will officiate.
Mr. Bauer died May 10, 1992, in a Newberg Care Center. He was 82.
He was born May 27, 1909, in Portland, the son of George and Marguerite Krieger Bauer. He grew up in Yakima, Wash.
He and Esther Schaad were married July 3, 1929, in Newberg.
Mr. Bauer lived in Portland then moved to a farm on Parrett Mountain, where he built a home. He worked in the Portland shipyards during World War II. He was employed as an iron worker until he retired in 1974.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Ironworkers in Portland and the Ladd Hill Grange. He enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Robin Hood Square Knotts Club. His other hobbies included fishing, hunting, traveling and rock hounding.
Survivors include his wife, Esther of Newberg; David of Newberg, Wilbur of Dundee and Delbert of Canby; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangemtns are under the direction of Attrell's Newberg Chapel.
