In Memory of

Dorothy Marie (Jones) Lindsey

May 8, 1938 - May 6, 2013

Lindsey, Dorothy Marie "Ree" – of South Knoxville, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 just two days short of her 79th birthday, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church, Telephone Company Pioneers and Woodman of the World. She retired from the Telephone Company in 1991. Proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles Clifford Lindsey; her parents, Willie and Elsie Jones; and brother-in-law, Ronnie DeMarcus. Survived by sisters, Marietta "Eller" Walton and her husband Tony, Mildred "Dit" DeMarcus, and Margaret "Boogidy" Bowser and her husband Walter; several nieces and nephews and many loving cousins.

Ree had a remarkably kind heart. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Many of her friends would tell you: Worry was never one of Marie's strong suits. She had many close acquaintances and cherished their friendship dearly. They will miss her enormously. She was instrumental in researching her family's genealogy and along with other family members compiled an ancestry worthy of this mention.

Ree's favorite scripture was Matthew 6:25-34, especially verse number 34: "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Her favorite saying was "This too shall pass." Ree now rests comfortably in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May God rest her soul! The family will receive friends Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a funeral service to follow with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet Friday, May 9, 2013, at Highland South Cemetery for a 2:00 Pm graveside service. Condolences may be offered online at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
