Alexander E. Hemline died May 5, 2013, suddenly, at the age of 17.

The beloved son of Suzanne (nee Lattuca) and Jeffrey Hemline; cherished grandson of Dolores and the late David Lattuca and Edward and the late Rita Hemline; dear nephew of David (Carla) Lattuca, Marina (William) Archambault and Michael (Michelle) Lattuca; also survived by many loving cousins, friends and fellow firefighters.

The family will be present on Thursday and Friday from 4-8 PM at the Harris Hill Chapel, Amigone Funeral Home Inc., 8440 Main Street.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church, 8445 Greiner Road, Williamsville. Interment to follow in Clarence Fillmore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harris Hill Volunteer Fire Company, 8630 Main Street Williamsville, NY.


Friends and family are mourning the loss of a 17-year-old high school senior from Clarence.

Alexander Hemline was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Sunday morning.

Hemline also served as a volunteer firefighter in Harris Hill.

Two flags flew in front of the Harris Hill Volunteer Fire Company as a symbol of mourning. Hemline's gear was placed beneath the flags.


The funeral for a teenage junior firefighter, killed last weekend in a car crash in Clarence, was held Saturday morning.

Dozens of fire trucks and firefighters escorted Alex Hemline's casket to the Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church on Greiner Road. There was not a dry eye in the church as family and friends said their goodbyes to the fallen teenager.

Seventeen-year-old Hemline died after losing control of his Jeep and crashing into a tree along Kraus Road in Clarence. He worked with the Harris Hill Volunteer Fire Company for about a year and a half.

He was only with the fire company for a short time, but quickly settled in with the other volunteers.

Scott Switzer, Former Harris Hill Chief said, Alex is an only child and I think he found some real brothers and sisters in a real sense."

In honor of the Clarence High School student, firefighters will be wearing a new decal on their helmets that says, 'Hem's Angels.'"

Hem is Alex's nickname.

At his funeral today there were many angels praying for him. Chief Switzer says he will remember Alex as a respectful young man. "Wise, mature, soft spoken yet he made quite a statement in his demeanor and in his character," he described the Clarence teen as.
