Harold N. Tapscott, 89, formerly of Mechanicsville, Va., died peacefully Friday, May 3, 2013, at his home in Kittanning. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Tapscott and her two daughters, Nancy Smith and her husband, Joe, of Kittanning, and Susan Gordan and her husband, Clyde, of Mystic, Conn. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, who was the mother of his four surviving children; three daughters, Gail Mitchell and her husband, Ernie, Carol Merritt and Anne Tapscott; son, Mark Tapscott and his wife, Terri; five grandchildren, Bethany, Jason, Carrie Lynn, Morgan and Keith; and five great-grandchildren. His remains rest at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, and where a celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
