STEPHEN ALAN CISNE/CESSNA was born 17 Apr 1782 in Rainsburg, Bedford, PA. He died 02 Jun 1829 in Center Township Monroe County, OH. Center is now located in Guernsey County, OH. It is not known if STEPHEN was buried in a family cemetery on his farm or if he was buried in a local cemetery.

His parents were REBECCA WORLEY and JONATHAN CESSNA. His wife was MARY ROSE, the daughter of MARY KINTON and ALLEN ROSE. They married in 1805 in Bedford County, PA.

STEPHEN was a farmer, owned a mill, and was known for the fine farming implements and tools he crafted. His sickles were known as the CISNE SICKLES. He changed the spelling of his last name to CISNE from CESSNA because it was easier to lable the sickles with the spelling CISNE verses CESSNA.

STEPHEN and MARY had nine (9) children: EMANUEL, REBECCA, STEPHEN SYLVESTER, JONATHAN, ELINOR, AGNES EMMA, SARAH, EZEKIAL ALAN, and ANNE MARGARET. Unfortunately, Stephen never saw his last child Anne Margaret. He died three (3) months prior to her birth. The poor baby only lived for five months (5) leaving STEPHEN'S poor wife MARY in deep mourning not only for him, but for their last child together.

Note: There has been some confusion about his middle initial or name. His middle name according to family records was ALAN. Somewhere along the way family researchers have turned it into V. This may be due to the fact that in listing him in a family tree he is in the fifth generation and often Roman Numerals are used. V is the symbol for 5. Handwriting could also explain the error because often an A can look like a V based on old handwriting styles.
